Applicants will be assessed on their education, training, knowledge, skill & experience (K.S.E.) and responsibility. Due consideration will be given to those who are qualified only by practical experience. There are many people who, through no fault of their own, have not had the opportunity to gain academic qualifications during their careers. These people may also apply for membership based on their own individual merits, practical experience and position.
Membership of PBTM will confer the following benefits:

Additional Qualifications:
Once a member:
- The Corporate Business Award (CBA) can be applied for, depending upon the grade of membership.
- Specific Registration can be applied for and successful applicants will be issued with a Professional Status Certificate stating their particular area of expertise.
- The Professional Manager’s Business Diploma (PMBD) and the Professional Manager’s Technical Diploma (PMTD) can be gained by exemption.
- The Practitioner in Professional Management (PM) Certificate can be applied for to authenticate management skills and status.

Student Member - Stud.Prof.BTM (Cert.BTM)
The applicant should have completed the first year of a course of studies or be qualified to NVQ Level 1, Foundation GNVQ. Foundation skills in occupations to operative or semi-skilled occupations.
Associate Member - A.M.Prof.BTM (Dip.BTM)
Holders of NVQ Level 3, Advanced GNVQ, ONC/OND, City & Guilds, BTEC or SCOTVEC/SQA awards. Also those with relevant professional qualifications and/or appropriate experience in business or technology and management trainees. Technician, craft, skilled and supervisory occupations.
Full Member - M.Prof.BTM (Dip.BTM)
Holders of NVQ Level 4, HNC/HND, City & Guilds, BTEC or SCOTVEC/SQA awards. First, Foundation, Associate’s & Bachelor’s Degrees. Also those with relevant professional qualifications and/or appropriate experience in business or technology. Technical and junior management occupations.
Fellow - F.Prof.BTM (Dip.BTM)
NVQ Level 5 & Master’s Degree. Chartered, professional and senior management occupations. Also those with relevant professional qualifications and/or appropriate experience in business or technology.
Companion - C.Prof.BTM (Dip.BTM)
Holders of a Doctorate Degree and those in a senior management position.
Note:
- We will also take membership of other professional bodies into account.
- The equivalent worldwide qualifications will apply in each grade.
- Application can be made to be upgraded to the next level of membership as further K.S.E. (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) is gained.
